The context of the labour shortage, coupled with the rapid development of the wind industry in the Gaspésie – Îles-de-la-Madeleine region, mean that the availability of a qualified workforce has become a significant issue for the competitiveness of businesses making up the local wind sector.
The objective of the labour force study is to consult players throughout the wind industry active in the Gaspé to obtain an overview of employment in the Quebec wind sector, especially in the Designated Region. The study aims to:
- Ensure that the regional labour force is capable of supporting the development and growth of the wind industry in the region;
- Improve the qualifications of workers and future graduates;
- Support economic activity in the region through the creation and maintenance of wind-related jobs.
To undertake this study, the action plan and the updates, the services of Matane-based consultant and human resources specialist Jérôme Landry were retained.
