Umbrella Group of O&M and Refurbishing Businesses

This Group was launched following a priority established at a Cluster Committee meeting in Spring 2012. The objective of this Committee is to analyze opportunities for occupying a greater role in this promising sector of activities. It is expected that the next two years will be crucial due to the end of the service contracts offered by turbine manufacturers General Electric (GE) and Senvion.

Various opportunities were identified at an initial meeting held on June 15, 2012, including refurbishment of components. A regional tour of companies was organized in September 2012 with members of this committee, followed by two economic missions to O&M-related events, the first in La Jolla, California in January 2013 and the second in Dallas, Texas in April 2014. A dozen or so businesses from the region make up this Group.

Sub-Committee, O&M and Training

This Sub-committee, which is an evolution of the original O&M group, is more focused on the training needs of O&M companies active in the Designated Region (Gaspésie – Îles-de-la-Madeleine administrative region and the MRC de la Matanie). Consultation meetings are occasionally held in order to identify the training needs of these businesses.

Already underway at the GroupeCollégia is an initiative entailing a brief training for workers with previous experience in the field of electromechanical engineering.
